About Eggs Over the Capitol

Eggs Over the Capitol is a gathering of passionate followers of the Big Green Egg™.  An opportunity for chefs & grilling professions known as Eggsperts, devoted fans who call themselves Eggheads, and those new to or unacquainted with the Big Green Egg™ to get together and share their enthusiasm, delicious food & recipes.

More than 24 Eggs™ will be available for EggHeads and Eggsperts to cook on and novices to witness in action.  Formal training from award-winning Eggsperts will be featured to demonstrate how to get the most out of your Egg™ and plenty of the world’s best-tasting barbeque will be prepared and shared.

Should you find yourself turning into an EggHead, never fear!  There will be plenty of Demo Eggs™ available for purchase at discounted rates.

Who can attend?

Eggs Over the Capitol is open to all Big Green Egg™ enthusiasts and anyone wishing to know more about the Big Green Egg™. So bring your friends, family, neighbors and healthy appetite; but, please leave the pets at home. Only preregistered guests and service animals will be admitted (no walk-ins).

Where is Eggs Over the Capitol?

Eggs Over the Capitol will take place a few blocks from the California State Capitol, high atop Sacramento’s historic Sutter parking structure, nestled between tree tops and tall buildings new and old alike.  Join us at the roof-top venue on 824 L Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.

Free parking is not included with registration and can often be hard to find near the venue.  Carpooling is strongly encouraged.  Several Pay-to-Park facilities are available nearby with more information available here.

The weather in Sacramento during April is typically sunny, comfortable and warm with the average temperature in the low to mid 70′s.

Since the Big Green Egg™ is the ultimate cooking experience, we want to give our friends and customers everything they need to explore wood-fired cooking with the best barbecue on the market.

David Hill, owner of The BBQ Pro has been cooking on a ceramic grill since he was just a lad, starting on the Kamado-style grills from the 1960s and graduating to the Big Green Eggs™ in 2004. He’s sold Big Green Eggs™ in his store for over ten years. His passion for cooking on the EGG has earned him many championships in the BBQ circuit over these years.

David Hill really enjoys teaching wood-fired cooking. David & Jennifer Hill have taught monthly classes on the Big Green Egg™ for over 5 years and absolutely love sharing what they’ve learned to everyone willing to listen – in their backyard classroom or just hanging out at the store discussing cooking techniques.

We never stop learning and love listening to our friends and customers because all the best tips and recipes for great barbecue are passed on by one friend to another.

The BBQ Pro has become much more than a store, it is a place where friends and neighbors gather to talk, eat and learn about great barbecued and grilled food.

Fat City Griller SupplyDon King from Fat City Griller Supply shares his experience and championship specialties from his unique, everything barbeque, shop in Stockton California. Fat City is one of Sacramento’s media go-to experts when it comes to BBQs and BBQ accessories.

Diablo Grills LogoHenry Laredo from Diablo Grills is an expert when it comes to outdoor grilling centers and represents the Sacramento, Roseville and Rocklin regions. He has designed and built hundreds of custom outdoor islands featuring the Big Green Egg™ and knows full well that an ultimate outdoor cooking experience must include the Big Green Egg™.

How do I join in the fun?

To make sure there is enough food and elbow room for everyone, registration will be limited to only 300 Tasters and no registrations will be taken at the door.
